NATURAL MAKEUP

Yoomi is visiting from out of town and she wanted portraits that captured the spirit of Los Angeles in her perspective. USA is plastered with posters and she wanted to pose next to them.

Because the posters have a lot of bright colors, I recommended natural looking makeup that enhances her features. She told me she like gray tones for the eyeshadow and I put some pink hues to compliment her skin tone.

My makeup boosted her confidence and it didn't make her feel self-concious during the photo session with the photographer, TOTSPUPS, who is also based in Los Angeles, CA.

To see larger images, click on the photo. You can see how natural the makeup looks. Some photos are homage to Madonna who's album CELEBRATION drops today.

Before and after photo of Yoomi.

BLACK & WHITE HEADSHOT

The makeup is for black and white headshots. Black and white photography makeup is different from color photography makeup because the colors don't show in the final photo.

She had such nice face structure, big eyes, and sexy lip so I highlighted her features with shading and contouring. I spend most of my time on her base makeup and applied little bit of eye color and lip for good measure.

MUSIC VIDEO: ASIAN DIME

For this video there were 20 Asian girls but only two makeup artists. The girls come from various backgrounds and some girls have a mix of Caucasian or African American heritage so the there was an assortment of skin tones.

My biggest task here was to bring out each girl's features to make them sexy and gorgeous.

She had a natural beauty so that I didn't want to interfere her original looking. I simply followed her face line and added little highlight to accent her cheek and brighten up her eyes.

Her eyes were not quite as big as other girls, so I put more efforts to make bigger eyes on her by using powder, liner, liquid and additional lashes. She was very impressed by the makeup result and came out to be the one of the cutest girls on that day.

Believe or not, she is a mom of 2 kids! She was is such a good shape, but some wrinkles were found around her eyes so that I applied more detailed base on her. She had more experiences than other girls, and this makeup added more confidence and brought out more sexy into her works.

BLACK & WHITE HEADSHOT

Makeup for a black and white photo shoot is the one of the hardest on an Asian face because it is tend to come out more flat. Mixture of highlight and shadows can sharpen her eyes and give the sexiness. I found that she had a nice and thick lip, so I just used the darker lip color to enhance her features.

HEADSHOT

Since hair color had the heavy impact, I put more colors around her eyes to bring up more attentions to her eyes. Brown eyebrow can soften her facial expression. Outlining with pencil just a little outside her lip and applying lip gross can bring a good amount of puffiness.
